Anime is a Japanese term to describe animated movies/tv shows. They are extremely popular all across Asia, with both young and old. They cover a wide variety of subjects and genres. I am a big fan of anime, have been for years, and one of my favorite shows is about an adolescent ninja (Naruto Uzumaki) who constantly searches for recognition and dreams to become the Hokage, the ninja in his village who is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The show is pretty crazy with allsorts of made ninja skills, demons, wars and the classics of good verses evil. The humor is good, the characters well rounded and interesting with multiple plots twisting through the series.
What I love about Naruto
But the best things about this show are the traits our hero displays time and time again: If you want to be the best train harder than everyone else, no matter how long it takes, or how many times you fail. If you have a dream, never stop believing in it, or let others tell you, you cannot achieve it. Be loyal and trusting with your friends, and they will be the same with you. And never quit, never give up, never surrender.
The 1st series was just simply called Naruto (220 episodes) the second series is called Naruto Shippuden (over 400 episodes and still going) as well as there being 9 full length animated films, as you can see this is an extremely popular series, and is available dubbed in English (which is the version I watch) with rumors that there will be a live action big budget film some time soon.
My Daughter Phoenix loves this show as well, especially for the strong female characters, who she runs around the house pretending to be while trying out her ninja moves on her poor old dad.
Give it a go and who knows; maybe you too will become a fan of the Village hidden in the leaves!
